The
on 25th July, the Chiefs of Staff considered endur by the War Office, amended by the Air inistry, covering a draft report to the Defence Committee on the future garrison of Hong Kong. Chiefs of Staff agreed to defer consideration of the proposal to withdraw British forces from Hong Kong until the organisation and training of the proposed Hong Kong Police Force, for maintaining the internal security, was nearing completion.
12. This decision leaves SEACOS 714, in which SACSEA
recommends a peace-time garrison of one British Infantry Brigade and one Field Ro;iment, still
unanswered.
3. It is therefore suggested that the telegram at Annex be despatched.
