Mr. McElderry
Commander Jolly again spoke to me about this to-day, and I toldhim that we had tracked down his reports and he was very much relieved. He would,3 nevertheless, like to have an early acknowledgement and, to save time, I have dictated a draft.
1
I should, however, like you to look through it and let me have any comments.

As soon as this has gone off, the file should go as quickly as possible to Casualties Department to note the information in the report relating to casualties. If any further information is required, Casualties Department will no doubt get in touch with Dommander Jolly themselves direct. The file should then go on to Honours Department to note the names put forward by Commander Jolly as being well worthy of special commendation or some signal mark of appreciation. These will no doubt be included in the comprehensive list of recommendations which is being prepared for Sir Mark Young.
Reverting to the draft, I have assumed that there is no objection to our communicating Appendix "A" to Lloyds and suggesting that they should get in touch direct with Commander Jolly if they want any further information. I should, however, be glad if you would confirm that there is no objection to this from the Colonial Office point of view (G.D., Establishments or C.S.D. might have views), and then arrange for the Appendix to be sent to Lloyds with the above intimation as soon as the letter has gone off to Commander Jolly.
