Facilities for air port..

As result of enquiries from the Air Ministry addressed to A.O.C. Hong Kong on possibility of siting airfield in ceded and not leased territory, and of consequent further reconnaisance by R. A. F. and civil officers, I now consider that the question of utilising Stonecutters I, merits further consideration.

Present proposal, of which fullest possible particulars follow by air mail, differs from that considered and rejected in Appendix & of Darley Report see your

single minvay of full requisite dimensions and correctly

sited for prevailing wind by jolning Stoecutters I to the mainland at Tai Kok Tsui.

As compared with Deep Bay scheme, this project

will involve:~

(a) Higher cost which cannot be estimated at the present, but may approach 10 (repeat 10) million pounds (sterling).

(b) Screwhat longer period of construction extending to 4 (repeat 4) years.
