Dear Crichton,

59

I promised in my letter of the 1st of May acknowledging yours of the 29th of April about your "duress" notes that I would write further when we had looked at your figures and those of the Chartered Bank more fully. We have now done this and I suggest that we should defer any further consideration of the whole problem until the

debtor-creditor" question has been settled since this will determine the position of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation and hence your own position. I propose, if you agree, to leave

it to you to raise the matter further with us at any time you think desirable.

I am writing in similar terms

to Cockburn.

Yours sincerely,

J.B. CRICHTON, ESQ.
