SURVEY OF STEAMSHIPS
Inspection of Life-Saving Appliances,
12.—(a) For the inspection of life-saving appliances on board a ship ou or before the first registry, or re-registry, a fee calculated on the basis of $30 for each lifeboat is to be charged.
(b) This fee will cover the issue to the owner, master or agent of the ship al report of the inspection of the whole of the life-saving appliances but if a duplicate copy of the report is required as additional fee of $4.50) is to be charged.
(c) For the subsequent inspection at the request of the master or owner, or, where a ship is found to have defective or deficient life-saving appliances, a fee of $15 per visit, with a maximum of $60, is to be charged.
(d) For a certificate of inspection of the life-saving appliances on a foreign skip the fee prescribed in paragraph (a) is to be charged.
(e) On application being made for the survey during construction at the hout-builders' works, and certification of lifeboats intended to form part of the life-saving appliances of either a passenger ship or a cargo ship the following fees are to be charged:-

For the survey of a lifeboat undergoing heavy repairs involving re-certifica- tion the same fee is to be charged.
These fees cover the issue to the applicant of a report of inspection of the bouts only and, in the case of a passenger ship, are in addition to the fee for survey for a passenger certificate. If the boats are supplied to a cargo ship and a subsequent inspection of the whole of the life-saving appliances is made under paragraph (a) only the balance of the fees under that paragraph is to be charged,
(7) On application being made for survey during construction at the makers works, and certification, of a buoyant apparatus intended to form part of the life- saving appliances of a passenger ship a fee of $3 per nuit with a minimum fee of $30 is to be charged.
This fee covers the issue to the applicants of a report of the inspection of the buoyant apparatus only, and is in addition to the usual fee for survey for a passenger certificate,
(9) For the inspection and stamping of life-jackets at the makers works, an inclusive fee of 8 cents for each life-jacket is to be charged, but the minimum fee for the attendance of a Surveyor is $24 ie., the fee for the inspection and stamping of 300 life-jackets.
(h) For the inspection and stamping of life-buoys at the makers works, an inclusive fee of 38 cents for each life-buoy is to be charged, with a minimum fee of $7.50.
(j) Boats' davits intended for stock purposes may be inspected and the material tested at the makers works provided an application is made and a fee of $15 is paid for each set of davits to be inspected. If the davits are subsequently supplied to a ship during survey for a passenger certificate the fee paid will be returned to the makers.
(4) For the examination of the design of the life-saving appliance, and the inspection of the first appliance made to that design, the following fees are to be charged:-
