(1) M1. S. B. B. McElderry acted as Chief Assistant to Seere- tary for Chinese Affairs from 1st January to 11th August, neled as Assistant Colonial Secretary and Clerk of Councile from 12th August to 31st December,

(2) Mr. N. L. Smith acted as Second Police Magistrate from 1st January to 9th September, and again from Dith Octo- ber to 31st December. He was on leave from 10th To 30th September.

(3) Mr. Sayer returned from leave on 22nd January. Acted na Deputy Registrar and Appraiser from 23rd Jannary ta 16th March. Acted as Head of Sanitary Department from 17th March to 31st December.
