OBSERVATIONS.
Parcels must be packed in wood, tin,
canvas, linen, or similar material and not merely in paper or card board. Parcels not packed in wooden or metal boxes must be covered with canvas, linen, or oil cloth (not linen-faced paper)sewn up at the flaps and folds, and secured with string scaled at che knots and ends. Wooden boxes must be of stout material, well -screwed or nailed together at the sides, top and bottom. Articles composed of celluloid must be packed in boxes of wood or metal Addresses must be clearly written The name of the town and province should be added in English, French or German. A separate Despatch Note and Separate Customs De- claration must be prepared for each parcel. Customs Declarations must show the gross weight. (in grammes of the parcel, including the packing, and the total value of the parcel must be stated. A separate entry must be made of each kind of article or goods, describing precisely in each case the quality according to the commercial deno- mination, the quantity (according to ordinary trade usage), by number, measurement, and net weight (in grammes) and the value both in Russian and in English currency, Neglect of these regulations will lead to the rejection of the parcel by the Russian Customs and its return to the sender.

Letters, rags and old clothes as mer- chandise and untoanufactured animal prodnets (unless accompanied by a certificate of disinfection), plants (no- less accompanied by a phylloxers certificate), all parts of vine, objects from which liquid or fat exudes, Russian coius of small value, gold or silver articles not up to the proper standard, prize coupons, swordsticks, arms (except by special permissiou to be obtained by the addressee), playing cards, labels, unauthorised medicines; swine's flesh, and all its products, even when not dressed or wade up, sanzages made of pork (if other than pork it should be stated on the Customs Declaration of what kind of meat they are made); and to Finland, brandy, poisous, potatoes, alcoholic varuish, church effects.
