REMARKS.

(1) Mr. Johnston assumed charge of the Departament on 1st March, and he was absent from the Colony on Public service from

5th to 26th October inclusive, and acted as Treasurer from Bib Octuber to 31st December. (2) Mr. Ross neteel as Assistant Postinster Generál from 4th June to 4th October and as Postmaster General from 5th October to 31st December, Salary:-Half of $1,800 and $340 House Allowance and half of $3,000 per annum from 4th Jane to Sul December; and half of $1,800) and $540 House Allowance and half of $1,800 together with half of the Imperial Allowance of £100 for m 4th to 91st December.

(3) Mr. Lewis actesi ns. lastninster General in conjunction with his substantive post from 1st January to 28th February, and

drew half of the salary of that. Officer and half of his own during that period,
