HONGKONG VOLUNTEER CORPS.
The Corps as it existed until 1893 consisted solely of an Artillery Corps. It was not mude subject to the Army Act, and consequently was not held to be in a military sense a reliable foree in the event of war.
In 1893 the force was disbanded by the Government and a new Volunteer Corps was formed noder Ordinance No. 6 of 1893, which placed the Corps under the supervision of the military authorities as in Englund, and made it subject to the Army Act to the same extent as the Volunteer Force in England. Amended Regulations were made by the Governor-in-Council on the 25th May, 1899, and again amended on the tith November, 1902.
The establishment of the Corps has now been fixed as follows :—

with a Stuff of 1 Major Commandant and Adjutant, 1 Major 2nd in Command, 2 Medical Officers, 1 Corps Sergeant-Major, aud 1 Olderly Room Clerk (Chinese), and 1 Armourer Sergeant.
The Staff is complete, and the other Units have been formed, with aerund strength as follows:–
