(5.) J. H. Stewart Lockhart, C.M.G., (Colonial Secretary) left the Colony for Wei-hai-wei on the 23rd April, 1902, the Hon. A. M. Thomson acted an Colonial Secretary from 23rd April to 14tli May, and the Ilon. F. H. May, G.M.G., assumed duty as Colonial Secretary from the 15th May, 1902.
(6.) Mr. M. J. Drayson acted as Clerk of Councils from 11th to 18th August, 1902, during the absence of Mr. R. F. Johnston on sick leave, and Mr. C. Clementi acted as Assistant Colonial Secretary and Clerk of Councils during Mr. Johnston's absence from 23rd September to 31st December, drawing balf salary of Assistant Colonial Secretary and half salary of Assistant Registrar General from 28rd September to 22ud December and only full salary of the post of Assistant Colonial Secretary from the 23rd December.
