HONGKONG VOLUNTEER CORPS.
The Corps as it existed until 1893 consisted solely of an Artillery Corps. It was not made subject to the Army Act, and consequently was not held to be in a military scuse a reliable force in the event of war.
In 1893 the force was disbanded by the Government and a new Volunteer Corps was formed under Ordinance No. 6 of 1893, which placed the Corps under the supervision of the military authorities as in England, and made it subject to the Army Act to the saine extent as the Volunteer Force in England. Amended Regulations were made by the Governor-in-Council on the 25th May, 1899,
The establishment of the Corps has now been fixed as follows :-
Battery of Light Field Artillery, .....110

Engineer Company,
1 Infantry Company,. and a Baml.

with a Stuff of 1 Lient.-Colonel Commandant, 1 Major 2nd in Command, 1. Adjutant and Quarter-Master, 2 Medien! Officers, 1 Corps Sergeant-Major, and 1 Orderly Room Clerk.
The Stuff is Complete, and the other Units have been formed, with actual strength as follows:-
