HONGKONG VOLUNTEER CORPS.
The Corps as it existed until 1893 consisted solely of an Artillery Corps. It was not made subject to the Army Act, and consequently was not held to be in a military sense a reliable force in the event of war.
In 1899 the force was disbanded by the Government and a new Volunteer Corps was formed under Ordinance No. 6 of 1893, which placed the Corps nuder the supervision of the military authorities as in England, and made it subject to the Army Act to the same extent as the Volunteer Force in England. Amondad Regulations were mule by the Governor-in-Council on the 25th May, 1899.
The establishment of the Corps has now been fixed as follows :—

with a Staff of 1 Lient.-Colonel Commandant, 1 Major 2nd in Command, 1 Adjutant and Quarter-Master, 3 Modical Officers, 1 Corps Sergeant-Major, and 1 Orderly Room Clerk.
The staff is complete, and the other Units have been formed, with actual strengths as follows :–
