HONGKONG VOLUNTEER CORPS.
Tho Corps ng it existed until 1893 consisted solely of an Artillery Corps. It was not malu subject to the Army Act, and consequently was not held to be in a military scuse a reliablo force in the event of war.
In 1893 the force was disbanded by the Government and a new Volunteer Corps was formed under Ordinance No. 6 of 1893, which placed the Corps under the supervision of the military authorities as in England, and mado it subject to the Army Act to the same extent as the Volunteer Force in England,
The establishmout of the Corps has been fixel as follows:-
1 Battery of Light Field Artillery, and
3 Machine Gun Companies:
with a stuff of 1 Commandant, 1 Adjutant, 3 Medical Officers, (1 Supernumerary), and 1 Quarter-Master Sergeant.
The staff is comploto, and the Field Battery and 1 Machino Gun Company have alrealy boon formel, numbering rospectively 97 and 46. The Field Battery has, in addition, 13 signallers and 1 Trumpeter (uneurollød boys) attached.
