XXI. What are, shortly, the rules as to diet?

With the exception of debtors and first-class misdemeanants and prisoners on remand or committal for trial, all prisoners are placed on penal diet of bread (or rice) and water on two days of each week (Saturday and Sunday) for the first six months of their imprisonment.
