(1) On the 1st June, 1895, the Fire Brigade was made a Sub-Department of the Police. Mr. Wodehouse handed over the duties of Superintendent on that date to Commander W. C. H. Hastings, R.N., Acting Captain Superintendent of Police, who received a monthly allowance of $50 from lapsing funds.
