There is no treuil-mill labour, but shot-drill, crank- Inbour, stone-carrying and oakum-picking are in force.

The hours of labour for all prisoners in this Colony throughout the year aro from 7 A.M, to 4 P.M., one hour being allowed for dinner. When penal labour is resorted to, men on the emank have to complete revo- lutions not exceeding 12,500 per day; European pri- soners at shot-drill do 4 hours, and Chineso prisoners 4 hours per day, iu spells of half an hour at a time, with stone-carrying or oakum-picking during the intervals.
Tailoring, shoc-making, carpentoring, grass and coir mat making, rattan work, printing, book-binding, Det making, tinsmithing, washing, cleaning, and incidental repairs to the Gaol buildings.
Prisoners have not been employed beyond the walls of the Guol during the year.

X. What was the total annual cost of the Prison during the year 1894?
The totul expenditure of the Guol in 1894 was $55,033.0)7, of which the sum of $1,322.65 was refunded for the subsistence of Naval, Military Court Martial prisoners, Debtors, &c., as follows:-

XI. What was the annual amount of the prisoners' earnings during 1894?
The total amount paid into the Treasury during the year on account of Prison Industrial labour was $3,419.54 of which $85.66 was for 1893, and $3,333.58 for 1894.
XII. What is the number of the hours allotted for sleep? And, if sleop is in association, are the dormi- tories lighted; and how often are they patrolled during the night?
The average time during which the prisouers sleep is about 11 hours in 24.
The dormitories aro not lighted; but Gas is kept burning in all pussagos and corridors, and the Turnkeys on duty are provided with bull's-eye lanterns to throw light into the dormitories when required.
Turnkeys are on duty in the Guol throughout the night, and patrol the corridors and passages constantly.
