Resolved.__ Rat Section 5s of Gaol Regulations be

amended so far as to subdivide. Misdemeanauts into two clauses,-

pt. - Misdemeanauts convicted of Libel; and 2nd Misdemeanants convicted of other offences. and that whenever possible there two classes should be kept separate.

Addendum._ The Justices also desire to express ofission, that as soon as forcible the present plan

of confinement for Female Criminals be altered. to a suitable place within the

walls of the Criminal

Prison, it being desirable to preserve the separation between Debtor and Criminal frisoner.

Proposed by the Honorable W. I. mercer, Enquire, and seconded by C. May, require- That Rule 69 of the Carl Regulations be amended as follows: _

"Misdemeanants of the sit class shall not be compelled to do more work than the ordinary Prison work, necessary for the preservation of the

cleanliness and comfort of

their Rooms or cells;

and other Brisdemeanants, except those sentenced, to hard labour, shall be fut to such work as they may be fitted for, but shall not, except for funishment, be fint to stove- breaking, oakum. ficking, treadmill. Every convicted Felon shall be fut to such labour as the said Governor shall direct, milles it be otherwise ordered in the Warrant of Commitment

" And after the clove of the mouth of December, in each year, the said Governor shall make out an account of the profit and loss of Gaol habour for the preceding year, and auch account shall be forwarded to the "Colonial Secretary for the information of his said Scellency:

Regulation 69 stands amended as above.
