The salary assigned to the Chief Magistrate's office was £200 up to the 10th December. It was temporarily increased to £300 on certain conditions. Vide Colonial Secretary's Letter No. 2241 of 18th December 1857.

This office was held by the late Mr. J. Quin up to the 10th December, and Mr. Charles Collins has been appointed to the situation on trial on a provisional salary of £125 per annum.

Coroner — 10 February 1844. Contributes to the Superannuation Fund. Voted allowance of March 1851, £150 per annum since.

Interpreter in the Chief Superintendent's Office — Nov 1837. Mr. Lay holds this office as a temporary measure until such time as his services may be required in the "Diplomatic Department," to which establishment he strictly belongs.
