He shall make his bed or cause it to be made, and clear his room or cause it to be cleaned every morning.
He shall be required to keep himself clean and decent in his person, and conform to the Rules and Regulations here laid down; and it shall be the duty of the Jailer to see that the same are strictly adhered to.
Every person on admission shall be examined by the Jailer, in order to ascertain that he has no dangerous weapon, or articles calculated to facilitate escape, or spirituous liquors.
When not receiving any allowance from the prison, a Debtor may receive from his friends or purchase food or clothing, but shall be allowed to purchase not more than one pint of beer in twenty-four hours. No Prisoner in the custody of the Sheriff shall keep or have any spirituous liquors in the prison without his leave is first obtained. Articles of clothing and food shall only be received between the hours of eight in the forenoon and four in the afternoon, and shall be subject to inspection of the Jailer, in order to prevent clandestine gain and waste. No part of such food, wine, beer, or other article, shall be given, sold to, or exchanged with any other prisoner.
Visitors, unless by the sanction of the Jailer, and in the verandah, Prisoners receiving visits will be searched after their friends shall have left them.
Permission to purchase tobacco, fruit, and other harmless luxuries may be given to well-behaved prisoners.
No unnecessary communication to be allowed between prisoners and Constables or others in the prison.
The Jailer will visit the cells morning and evening, and satisfy himself of the safety of his prisoners. He will recollect that the preservation of their health will mainly depend upon cleanliness of person and abode, to which he will particularly direct his attention.
The Constable on duty is to see that no prisoner leaves the Prison unless under the special charge of a Constable or officer of the Prison.
One of the Police Magistrates will visit the Prison at least once in every week, and make a written report to His Excellency the Governor.
