An Ordinance to amend the Legal Aid Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Legal Aid (Amend- ment) Ordinance 1970.

Section 10 of the principal Ordinance is amended. (a) by being renumbered as subsection (1) thereof; and (6) by adding the following new subsection-

"(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of sub. section (1), the Director may refuse to grant a legal aid certificate, although satisfied of the matters specified in paragraphs (b) and (c) of subsection (1) if, in his opinion, the applicant has disposed of any capital or income for the purpose of satisfying the conditions specified in those paragraphs.".
