"or (unless they married after the mak- ing of the statement or admission) against the wife or husband of that person in any proceeding in respect of an offence under the Theft Ordinance 1970".

(c) by deleting in the provisa “. (8)”. Section 273 is amended by deleting para- graph (4).

The Schedule is amended by deleting “Cap. 210. Larceny Ordinance." and "S. 16{8}; &. 17; s. 18; s. 19; a. 20 and a 21," and substituting respec- tively the following

"Theft Ordinance 1970.” and “S. 9 in respect of

anything form- ing pat of land.**.

Section 38 is amended in subsection (1) by deleting "14 years" in the third column of the table and substituting the following~~

The Ordinance is amended by adding, after section 21, the following new section-

21A. Any person who, by any fraud, unlawful device or ill practice, before or after or in the course of or in connexion with any gaming or gambling, wins or obtains from any other person for biniself or for any other person any sum of money or valuable thing shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on convic tion to imprisonment for two years", Section 28 is amended- (a) by deleting subsection (1) and substituting

the following-

"(1) If im any proceedings before a court or magistrate it appears that any goods brought before such court or magistrale have been unlawfully pawned with a pawnbroker, the court or magis- trate, on proof of the ownership of the goods, may order either the delivery or the non-delivery thereof to the owner- (6) on payment to the pawnbroker of the amount of the loza ad- vanced by him thereon and the interest due; or

(6) on payment of any part of

such loan or inletest; or

(c) without payment of any part

of such loan or interest,

as may seem just and Etting to the court or magistrate, according to the conduct of the owner and the pawnbroker and the other circumstances of the case.": (b) by deleting subsection (3) and substituting

the following-

"(3) Any such order made by the court or magistrate shali bar any civil
