PRISON (AMENDMENT) RULES 1967.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 27 of the Prisons Ordinance 1954, the Governor in Council has made the following rules---

Rule 36 of the principal rules is revoked.

The principal rules are amended by inserting the follow- ing new rule immediately after rule 68—

"Review of sentences of certain prisoners.

68A. (1) The Commissioner shall submit to the Governor for review the case of any prisoner of any category specified in the first column of paragraph (2) at the intervals specified in relation thereto in the second column of paragraph (2).

First Column,

(1) Imprisoned for a term

exceeding six years (other than (ii) ).

(i) Imprisoned for life.

(iii) Detained during Her

Majesty's Pleasure.

Second Column. After four years and every two years there- after.

After four years and every two years there- after.

After two years and overy two years there- after.

(iv) Under 21 at the date. After one year and

of the offence for every year thereafter. which imprisoned.

(3) Nothing in this rule shall prevent the Governor, in his discretion, from reviewing the case of any prisoner at any time.

(4) When the case of any prisoner falls to be dealt with under this rule, reports shall be submitted- (a) by the Medical Officer, on the mental and physical condition of the prisoner and
