1. These regulations may be cited as the Urban Council Elections Cuation (Registration of Electors) Regulations 1966, and shall come into opera- tion on the commencement of the Urban Council (Amendment) Ordin- ance 1966.

2. In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires- Interpreta- "identity card" means an identity card issued under the provisions of
the Registration of Persons Ordinance 1960:
(18 of 1960).
"identity card number" means the reference number appearing on an
identity card.
Electoral Districts and POLLING STATIONS.
3. (1) As soon as is practicable after the 15th day of September Electoral 1966 and as soon as is practicable after the 15th day of June in the districts
and polling year 1968 and in each alternate year thereafter, and in any case not stations. later than the day on which, in the same year, notice of the provisional register is published pursuant to regulation 11, the registration officer, after consultation with the returning officer, sball by notice in the Gazerre
(a) divide the Colony into such number of electoral districts as he may consider desirable for the better conduct of elections; and
(6) designate, in respect of each such electoral district, one place to be used as the polling station for that district, either for that district alone or jointly for that and any other electoral district or districts:
Provided that if for any reason whatsoever it becomes impracticable or impossible to use, as a polling station for any electoral district, any place so designated, the registration officer, in consultation with the returning officer, at any time not less than twenty-one days before any election, may desig- nate any other place to be used as a polling station for that
