It is provided by section 7 of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1933 that every person who makes, assists in making or procures to be made any false representation for the purpose of procuring, either for himself or for any other person, a certificate of competency; or fraudulently uses a cert ficate or copy of a certificate of competency which has been forged, altered, cancelled or suspended, or to which he is not entitled; or fraudulently kods his certificate of competency or allows it to be used by any other person, shall be liable to a fine of twenty thousand dollars or to imprisonment for three years; and by subsection (3) of section 52 of the same Ordinance. overy master or mate whose certificate is suspended or cancelled in pursuance of that Ordinance shall, on the demand of the court, deliver his certificals to the court, or if it is not demanded by the court, deliver it to the Governor or as be directs, and la default he shall be liable to a fine of one thousand dollars.
N.B. Any person other than the rightful holder becoming possessed of the Certificate should transmit it forthwith to the Director of Marine, Hong Kong.
