CIONS
(1) Mris S. Gordon, pursuant to notice; ill ask the following
questions :
(1) In view of the widespread increases in rateable values to take effect from 1st April next year, will Government explain the policy whereby the rateable value can be act at a figure higher than a rental which has been agreed by free negotiation between landlord and tenant on an arms length beais?
(11) 4 the Rent Increases (Domestic Promises) Control
Ordinance is intended to control rather than stimulate rent increases, dous government consider it desirable that rateable values of owner occupied premises should be increased at this time?
(111) As an increase in rateable values is, in effect, an
increase in bacation, would it not be more appropriate, if such increased taxation is in fact required, for it to be introduced openly through this Council?
(2) Mr. K.A, Vatson, purauant to notice, will ask the following
questions :-
Is Government aware that the demand for parking apadea for vehicles in the Central District of Hong Kong Island is likely to excecd the supply by about 3000 epanes in 1968, and by about 5000 spaces by the end of 19707
Thage do not include the extra demand for about 6000 places likely to arise if and when a cross- barbour tunnel is built. 12.
What action does Government intend to take to meet this deficit in the Central District, and similar difficulties in other areast
GOVERNMENT BUSINESS.
(1) Illegal Strikus and Lock-Oute Ordinance, Chapter 61.
The Attorney Genral to move the following resolution :-
Resolved, pursuant to section 8 of the Illegal Strikes
and I-opk-Outa Ordinance, Chapter 61, that the duration of the said Ordinance be extended for the term of ons year with offect from 1st January, 1965.
