(4) The hirer shall retain one copy of the document and shall produce it on demand made by a police officer during the continuance of the hiring.
35. The registered owner of a public omnibus or a public car shall not hire the vehicle to any person unless he is satisfied that-
(a) during the continuance of the hiring there shall be in force in relation to the user of the vehicle by each person whose name appears on the document referred to in regulation 34 as a person permitted to drive the vehicle, such policy of insurance or such a security in respect of third party risks a complies with the Motor Vehicles (Third Party Risks) Ordinance, 1951;
(6) every such person is, in the case of a public omnibus, in possession of a valid driving licence entitling him to drive a public omnibus, and, in the case of a public car, in possession of a valid driving licence entitling him to drive a car of the class specified in regulation 37.
36. (1) A condition of the hiring of a public omnibus or a public car may be that it shall be driven only by a person in the employ of the registered owner of the vehicle or that such a person is provided to drive the vehicle.
(2) If a public omnibus or a public car is being driven by a person in the employment of the registered owner, such person shall be subject to the provisions of regulation 29 and paragraphs (a), (b), (c) and (c) of regulation 30 as if he were the driver of a taxi.
37. (1) Subject to paragraph (2), any person may be permitted to drive a public car if he is in possession of a driving licence entitling him to drive a private car.
(2) The registered owner of a public car and any person in the employment of such registered owner may drive a public car only if he is in possession of a driving licence permitting him to drive public cars or taxi.
38. No person shall carry in a public omnibus or a public car a number of passengers or a weight of goods or a number of passengers and a weight of goods in excess of the number and weight shown in the vehicle licence in respect of the vehicle.
PART VI.
LOST PROPERTY.
39. (1) Any person who finds any property accidentally left in a taxi, in a public omnibus or in a public car shall immediately hand the same to the driver.

(2) Immediately after the termination of every hiring of a taxi. of a public omnibus or of a public car the driver or, in the case of a public car hired without the services of a driver, the person to whom the public car was returned at the termination of the hiring, shall care- fully search the vehicle, or, if careful search is then impracticable. shall look inside the vehicle to ascertain whether any property has been accidentally left therein and if he does not carefully search the vehicle at the termination of the hiring he shall do so as soon as is practicable thereafter.
40. (1) Aoy driver who finds any property left in a taxi, a public Disposal. omnibus or a public car or any person to whom any such property is handed shall, within six hours, deposit such property at a police slation in the state in which it was found by or handed to him and shall truly state the particulars of such finding:
Provided that if such property is sooner claimed by the owner thereof and satisfactory proof of ownership is given, it shall be restored to the owner forthwith instead of being deposited at a police station.
(2) Any property deposited in a police station in accordance with the provisions of paragraph (1) shall be disposed of in accordance with the provisions of sections 35, 36 and 38 of the Police Force Ordinance. (Cap. 232).
PART VII.
MISCELLANEOUS, PENALTIES AND REVOCATION.
41. (1) Any person aggrieved by a decision of the Authority made Appeal. in accordance with the provisions of these regulations within fourteen days of the notification to him by the Authority of such decision, or within such greater period as may be allowed by the Governor in Council, may appeal, by petition, to the Governor in Council and, so far as is practicable, the operation of such a decision shall be suspended until the petition has been heard and determined by the Governor in Council.
(2) On any such appeal, the Governor in Council may confirm, amend or reverse the decision of the Authority.
42. (1) Any police officer in uniform of the rank of inspector or Powers of above may inspect, at any reasonable time, any taxi, any public inspection, omnibus and any public car and the place where the vehicle is normally kept when not hired.
(2) The Director of Fire Services or any officer of the Fire Services Department authorized in writing by bim may inspect at any reasonable time any place where a taxi, a public omnibus or a public car is normally kept when not hired.
