had elected to receive a gratuity and reduced pension or, in the case of such officer as is described in subsection (2), he had before the date of his retirement, elected to receive a gratuity and reduced pension.

(6) For the purposes of this section an officer who has upt been confirmed in his office and who dies in the circum- stances mentioned in subsection (1) of section 17 shall be deemed to have been confirmed in his office.".

This printed impression has been carefully compared by me with the Bill which passed the Legislative Council on the 23rd day of May, 1962, and is found by me to be a true and correctly printed copy of the said Bill.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and

consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Tenancy (Notice of Short title Termination) Ordinance, 1962, and shall be deemed to have had effect

2. (1) Save as otherwise provided in this section this Ordinance Application. shall apply to every tenancy (which expression shall wherever it occurs in this Ordinance include sub-tenancies save where the context other- wise requires) whether the same be effected orally or in writing and notwithstanding any provision in such tenancy, including any provision purporting specifically to exclude the provisions of this Ordinance.
