Section 6 of the principal Ordinance is amended by the dele- of section 6. tion from subsection (1) thereof of the words and commua “and in the case of an application for associate membership, shall be sponsored by two ordinary members".

Section 9 of the principal Ordinance is amended by the deletion therefrom of subsections (2) to (6) inclusive and the substitution therefor of the following-

"(2) (a) The Board shall consist of cleven members, each of whom shall be appointed by the Governor and shall hold office for such period not exceeding three years as the Governor shall provide.

(b) Six of the members of the Board shall be selected by the Governor and each of the remaining five members thereof (hereinafter referred to as the nominated members of the Board) shall be an ordinary member of the Association, not being a company or a firm, or the accredited represed- tative of an ordinary member which is a company or a firm, recommended for appointment under the provisions of paragraph (a), (b) or (d), as the case may be, of sub section (3).

(c) In paragraph (8), the expression "accredited representa- tive" means the person designated by an ordinary membe which is a company or a firm to be its representative for the purposes of the said paragraph, being a person who is engaged in the day to day business of such company or firm and who has been accepted by the Board (which expression includes the Board appointed under this section prior to its amendment by the Hong Kong Tourist As sociation (Amendment) Ordinance, 1960) as such repre- sentative.

(3) (a) Each of the following classes of ordinary members,

that is to say-

(i) international passenger carriers who carry passed- gers by seat

(ii) international passenger carriers who carry passen gers by air;

(ii) hotel proprietors;

(iv) recognized travel agents;

(v) tourist agents,

may, within one month of the commencement of the Houg Kong Tourist Association (Amendment) Ordinance, 1960, recommend a person for appointment as a nominated member of the Board.

(b) When for any reason a vacancy occurs in the office of a nominated member of the Board, the class of ordinary members by, or as representing, whom such member was recommended for appointment may, within one month of the occurrence of such vacancy, recommend another person for appointment as a nominated member of the Board.

(c) Where he thinks fit, the Governor may, after consultation with those persons who are members of the Board, decline to appoint as a nominated member of the Board any person who has been recommended for such appointment under the provisions of paragraph (a) or (b),

(d) Where-

() within one month of the commencement of the Hong Kong Tourist Association (Amendment) Ordinance, 1960, any such class of ordinary members has not recommended a person for appointment as u nominated member of the Board: or

(i) within one month of the occurrence of any vacancy in the office of a nominated member of the Board, the class of ordinary members by, or as representing, whom such member was recommended for appointment has not recommended another person for appointment as a nomin- ated member of the Board; or

(iii) the Governor declines to appoint as a nominated member of the Board any person who has been recom- mended for such appointment under the provisions of paragraph (a) or (6) by any such class of ordinary members,

those persons who are members of the Board at the expiry of such month or at the time the Governor so declines to appoint a person as a nominated member of the Board, as the case may be, may recommend a person for appoint- ment as a nominated member of the Board as representing that class of ordinary members.

(e) Every recommendation under the provisions of paragraph (a) or (b) shall be made in accordance with such procedure us the Board may prescribe.

(4) When for any reason a vacancy occurs in the office of a member of the Board selected for appointment by the Governor, such vacancy shall be filled by appointment by the Governor.

(5) The Governor shall appoint a member of the Board as chairman thereof, and may appoint another member of the Board to act as chairman thereof during the temporary incapacity by ill-
