Explanatory Nole.

(This Note is not part of the regulations, but je intended to indicate their general purport).

The purpose of these regulations is to amend regulation 15 of the Post Office Regulations which deals with the letting of private boxes and to introduce provision for private bag services.

The effect of these regulations will be to increase the annual fees payable for boxes and proscribe an annual fee of thirty six dollars for bag services. Provision is also made for the supply of boxes and bags and the keys therefor. These regulations will abolish monthly hirings of boxes and will provide that all hirings shall be for not less than one year in the first instance renewable thereafter at the discretion of the Postmaster General, either annually or three monthly. Similar provision is made in the case of bag services. Provision is also made for the sharing of boxes by different addressess if desired.
