(d) except with the permission in writing of the Commissioner, the period of employment and the intervals allowed for meals and rest in accordance with the provisions of this regula- tion shall be the same for all women and young persons employed in such industrial undertaking, except in the case of young persons who have not attained the age of sixteen years;

(e) no woman or young person shall be required or permitted to work during any such interval allowed for meals or rest.

(2) For the purposes of this regulation, employ. ment shall be deemed to be continuous unless inter- rupted by an interval of at least half an hour, or, in the case of young persons under the age of sixteen, one hour.

9. (1) No proprietor shall employ in any industrial undertaking any woman or young person unless there is conspicuously posted at a place con- veniently accessible to the employees employed in such industrial undertaking a notice fixing within the limits prescribed in regulation 8 and in the case of shift work, regulation 10A-

(a) the period of employment for each day of the week for women or young persons employed in the undertaking;

(b) the intervals allowed for meals or rest to such

women or young persons; and

(c) the day of the week, in accordance with regulation 10C, upon which women and young persons shall not be employed; and. in cases where such day is allocated in rotation, specifying the scheme of rotation.

(2) Different periods of employment and different intervals for meals or rest may be fixed for dillerent days of the week.

(3) No proprietor shall change, or permit to be changed, any period of employment or any interval for meals or rest fixed by notice under paragraph (1) until there has been served in writing on the Commissioner and posted at the place referred to in such paragraph (1), a notice of intention to make the change, and no such change shall be made more often than once in every three months, unless for special cause allowed in writing by the Commissioner.

(4) A copy signed by the proprietor of the industrial undertaking or by his duly authorized agent of any notice posted under paragraph (1) shall be sent not later than the day of posting to the Commissioner.

10. (1) Notwithstanding the provisions of this Part relating to hours of work and periods of employ- ment, pressure of work in any industrial undertaking may be dealt with by the overtime employment of women and young persons who have attained the age of sixteen years :

Provided that the overtime for the undertaking shall not exceed in the aggregate, calculated in accordance with the provisions of sub-paragraph (c) of paragrapli (10), one hundred hours in any year or six hours in any week and shall not take place in the undertaking in more than twenty five weeks in

any year.

(2) The overtime employment of a woman or young person shall be subject to the following conditions-

(a) the total hours worked by the woman or young person shall not exceed eleven in any day; and

(b) the period of employment for the woman or young person shall not exceed thirteen hours in any day and shall not extend outside the hours specified in regulation & for the begin- ning and ending of the period of emloyment except that it may extend to nine o'clock in the evening.
