than forty pounds if carried on a properly con- structed load carrier affixed to the front of the bicycle or more than fifteen pounds if carried on the bicycle in any other manner; and
(b) on a road in the New Territories, other than New Kowloon, not designated in accordance with paragraph (1A) shall weigh more than sixty pounds if carried on a properly constructed load carrier affixed to the front or the rear of the bicycle or partly on one such load carrier and partly on the other, or more than thirty pounds if carried on the bicycle in any other manner.
(1A) The Commissioner by order published in the Gaselle may designate any road in the New Territories other than New Kowloon as a road to which the provisions of sub- paragraph (a) of paragraph (1) apply.".
5. Regulation 165 of the principal regulations is amended
by the addition, in paragraph (2), after the figures "137" of the following-

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Pensions Ordinance, the Governor in Council, with the sanction of the Secretary of State, has made the following regulations-
1. These regulations may be cited as the Pensions (Amend- Citation. ment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1957-
2. The Schedule to the Pensions Regulations is amended Amendment by the addition at the end thereof of the following-

Explanatory Note,
(This Note ir not part of the regulations, but is intended to
indicate their general purport).
These regulations amend the principal regulations-
(a) to enable bases to be used with stair-risers up to eleven inches
Instead of ten inches as previously;
(8) to control, with effect from 1st January, 1968, the provision of
warning instruments on bicycles and tricycles; and
(c) to relax the provisions relating to loads on bicycles in the New
Territories other than New Kowloom.
