PRACTICE FLIGHTS,

74. With reference to Article 21 (5) of the Order, a person who is not the holder of a pilot's licence to fly flying machines or public transport or aerial work gliders may fly within the Colony as pilot in charge of a Aying machine or a public transport or aerial work glider, as the case may be, for the purpose of becom- ing qualified for the grant or renewal of such a licence, subject to the conditions specified in paragraphs (1) and (2) respectively of this regulation.

(1) Flying Machines-

(4) He shall, if required to do so by Article 25 of the Order, be the holder of a student pilot's licence granted under the Order;

(b) he must be not less than 17 years of age;

(c) no other person, except a person required under the Order or these regulations to be carried as a member of the operating crew, shall be carried in the flying machine;

and

(d) each flight shall be carried out in accordance with instruç- tions given by a person entitled by virtue of a rating included in his pilot's licence to give instruction in Bying flying machines and shall terminate at the aerodrome of departure. Intermediate practice landings may, however, în accordance with such instructions, be made elsewhere than at the aerodrome of departure.

(2) Public Transport or Aerial Work Gliders-- (4) He must be not less than 16 years of age; (b) no other person, except a person required under the Order or these regulations to be carried as a member of the operating crew, shall be curried in the glider;

(c) in the case of a glider of which the maximum total weight authorized exceeds 1,250 lb. which in the course of Right is towed by a flying machine and released therefrom, cach flight shall be carried out in accordance with instructions given by a person entitled, by virtue of a rating included in his pilot's licence, to give instructions in Aying gliders

towed by lying machines, and shall terminate either at the aerodrome of departure, or, with the consent of such person, at a place within three nautical miles therefrom.

Flights to qualify for Extension of Licence.

78. With reference to Article 21 (6) of the Order, a person who is the holder of a pilot's licence to fly flying machines or gliders may fly within the Colony as pilat in charge of a flying machine or glider, as the case may be, of a class or type other than a class or type to which the licence relates, for the purpose of qualifying for an extension of the licence to include such class or type of flying machine or glider =

Provided that, when he is so flying, no other person shall be carried in the flying maching or glider except

(u) a person required under the Order of these regulations to be carried as a member of the operating crew of the flying machine or glider; or

(b) if the pilot in charge of the flying machine is the holder of a pilot's licence to fly public transport flying machines, a person carried with the consent of the operator of the Aying machine for the purpose of being trained to perform duties as a member of the operating crew of a flying machine.

Flying Machines Towing Gliders.

76. With reference to Article 46 (2) of the Order, a person who is the holder of a pilot's licence to fly flying machines may fly within the Colony as pilot in charge of a flying machine towing a glider of which the maximum total weight authorized exceeds 1,250 10., and as pilot in charge of such a glider as aforesaid which in the course of flight is towed by a flying machine and released therefrom, for the purpose of becoming qualified for the grant of a Lowing rating, subject to the following conditions→→

(a) no other person, except a person required under the Order or these regulations to be carried as a member of the operating crew, shall be carried in the flying machine or the glider;
