Explanatory Note.

(This Note is not part of the regulationa, but is intended to

indicate their general purport).

Regulation 34 of the Pensions Regulations (Volume IX, page 6) provides for a nurses retiring allowance of 88. dd. for each completed month of pensionable service. This rate was determined in 1922 and bears little resemblance to the corresponding rate of a present day pansion based on post war salary acales. These regulations increase this allowance to #1 for each completed month of pensionable service in the case of surges retiring on or after the lat April, 1951.
