Section 16 of the principal Ordinance is amended-

(a) by the deletion of the words "two thousand and five hundred dollars" wherever they occur therein and the substitution therefor of the following-

"five thousand dollars'';

(b) by the insertion after the words "Pensions Regulations" in sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (b) of subsection (1) of the following-

"if his public service had been wholly in the Colony and";

(c) by the deletion of the words "Such gratuities if" from subsection (3) and the substitution therefor of the following-

"A gratuity".

4. Subsection (1) of section 17 of the principal Ordinance is amended by the deletion from sub-paragraph (1) of the words "seven hundred and eighty dollars" and the substitution therefor of the following-

"one thousand one hundred and fifty-two dollars".

6. (1) The amendments to the principal Ordinance made by section 2, paragraph (a) of section 3 and section 4 of this Ordinance shall be deemed to have bad effect as from the 1st day of October, 1953.

(2) The amendments to the principal Ordinance made by paragraphs (b) and (c) of section 3 of this Ordinance shall be deemed to have had effect as from the 24th day of September, 1954-

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows—

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Probate and Adminis- Short title. tration (Amendment) Ordinance, 1955.

2. Section 58 of the Probate and Administration Ordinance Amendment (hereinafter referred to as the principal Ordinance) is amended of section by-

(Cap. 10).

(a) the deletion from subsection (1) of the words "Where the whole estate in the Colony of any person dying in the Colony does not exceed in value the sum of two thousand
