First Schedule.

Possession of game, scheduled mammals and wild birde,

"hunt" includes any act immediately directed at the killing or capture of any mammal or bird or at the taking of eggs, nest or young;

"licensing authority" means any public officer appointed by the Governor by notice in the Gazette to be the licensing authority for the purposes of this Ordinance;

"scheduled mammal" means any mammal specified in the Second

Schedule:

"vermin" means any mammal or bird specified in the Third

Schedule.

No person shall hunt any mammal (other than rodents) or any bird by means of nets, gins, snares, pitfalls, poison or poisoned weapons, bird lime or traps of any kind, or have in his possession for the purpose of hunting such mammals or birds any of such appliances.

No person shall hunt any scheduled mammal or any bird other than game or vermin.

No person shall take, remove, injure or destroy the nest or any egg of any wild bird.

6. (1) No person shall hunt any game without having pre- viously obtained a game licence from the licensing authority.

(a) No person shall hunt any game during the close season for such game prescribed in the First Schedule.

7. Subject to the provisions of section 16, no person shall be in possession of-

(c) any live game or any live scheduled mammal ‡

(b) any wild bird killed or taken in the Colony other than

game or vermin;

(c) any game or any part of any game killed or taken in the

Colony during the close season for such game.

8. Subject to the provisions of section 16, no person shall Prohibition

12. (1) The licensing authority may at his discretion issue Game a game licence in the form and on payment of the fee prescribed in the Sixth Schedule.

(2) The licensing authority before issuing a licence may require the applicant to appear before him in person and produce for his inspection his arms licence.

(3) Where the licensing authority refuses an application for the issue of a game licence, the applicant may appeal in writing to the Colonial Secretary whose decision shall be final.
