(Chapter 89).

PENSIONS (AMENDMENT) (No. 2) RegulationS, 1953.

In exercise of the powers conferred by subsection (1) of section 3 of the Pensions Ordinance, the Governor in Council, with the sanction of the Secretary of State, has made the following regulations-

2. Regulation 29 of the Pensions Regulations, hereinafter Addition referred to as the principal regulations is amended by the addition paragraph thereto of the following paragraph as paragraph (4)—–

"(4) Sub-paragraph (8) of paragraph (1) shall not be a 29. qualification for the grant of a gratuity under this regulation (Vol. IX, in the case of a non-pensionable officer selected for appoint- ment to the service of the Government on or after the date of commencement of the Workmen's Compensation Ordinance, 1953, if his dependants as defined in such Ordinance are entitled to compensation thereunder."

"(6) Neither sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (1) nor 81. paragraph (2) shall apply in the case of an officer selected for appointment to the service of the Government on or after the date of commencement of the Workmen's Compensation Ordinance, 1953, who, in consequence of his injury, is entitled to compensation under such Ordinance."

These amendments to the Pensions Regulations are consequential to the enactment of the Workmen's Compensation Ordinance, 1958, which Ordinance does not come into operation until such date as the Governor shall notify by proclamation in the Gazette.
