Council CHAMBER,

syrd September, 1952.

ob

Clerk of Councils.

Explanatory Note.

Recent cases before the courts have disclosed the necessity for the amendment of the Schedule to the Exportation (Prohibition) (Specified Articles) Order, 1951, owing to the ambiguity of the descriptions of some of the articles mentioned therein. It has also become necessary to add some new articles to the various items in the Schedule. The recent amendment made to the Importation and Exportation Ordinance (Chapter 50) has provided for the enactment of subsidiary legislation ander the Ordinance by regulation instond of by Order as previously. It has therefore been considered necessary to effect the desired amendments by re-enacting the Exportation (Prohibition) (Specified Articles) Order, 1951, suitably amended in the form of regulations made under section 4. The additiona to the Schedule include multiple-effect evaporators, certain types of pump, conveyor belting, lithium, mercury, shipa" bettors compositions, certain chromium compounds, abaca and sisul Obres and cordage.
