SECOND COLUMN.
(1) For the expressions "Empire" and "British Empire" wherever they appear there shall be substituted the following-
"Commonwealth".
(2) The first definition in section a is repealed and
replaced by the following-
“Commonwealth" bears the meaning given thereto by section 3 of the Inter- pretation Ordinance, 1950."
(3) Section 3 is amended by the addition as sub-
section (3) thereof of the following-
"(3) Where it appears to the Governor in Council that such special licence fee has been paid in respect of a private motor vehicle brought into and kept in the Colony for a period not exceed- ing three months on the occasion of or in connexion with a temporary stay in the Colony of the owner of the vehicle, the Governor in Council shall without pre- judice to the provisions of any other enact- ment have power in his discretion to order that such special licence fee shall in whole or in part be refunded."
Section 3 is repealed and replaced by the following-
"3. The sites and buildings and prisons known as Stanley Prison, Victoria Remand Prison, Lai Chi Kok Female Prison, the Prison Ward of Queen Mary Hospital, and the Prison Ward of Kow- loon Hospital, shall be prisons duly set apart under section 4,"

(0) Section 277 is amended by the addition after
subsection (7) thereof of the following-
"(8) If because of the absence of an address of a liquidator or the absence of an address of any subscriber to the memorandum, or for any other reason, the registrar considers that a notice to be sent under this section is unlikely to come to the knowledge of the addressee, it shall be sufficient compliance with the require- ments of this section if in lieu of the send- ing of such a notice the registrar shall cause to be inserted in the Gazette in each such case an advertisement to the like effect as such notice."
(2) Section 279. (2) Section 279 is amended by the deletion in the third line of the words "with the Colonial Treasurer or".
