Section 16 (as enacted by Ordinance No. 57 of 1948) is repealed and replaced by the follow- ing-
"18. (1) On the tender of any such ticket together with the full amount then due for principal and simple interest, if made within six months from the day of making the loan in the case of goods pawned in any part of the New Territories other than New Kowloon, and four months from the day of making the loan in the case of goods pawned elsewhere in the Colony, the pawnbroker shall deliver up the goods described therein to the person so tendering.
(2) The Governor in Council may by regulation prescribe periods in substitution for the periods of six months and of four months specified in sub- section (1) hereof.”

Section 2 is amended by the deletion in sub- section (2) of the expressions "British Empire" and "Empire" where in such subsection such expressions occur and the substitution therefor of the following-
"Commonwealth”.
(2) Section 3 is amended by the repeal of sub- section () and the substitution therefor of the following-
"(This Ordinance shall apply to alcoholic liquors, tobacco, hydrocarbon oils, table waters, proprietary medicines and toilet preparations."

(3) Section 7 is amended by the addition at the
end thereof of the following-
**(3) a list of general bonded ware- houses and a list of licensed warehouSES shall be published in the Gazette in January of each year and additions thereto or deletions therefrom shall be similarly published within one month of such addition or deletion becoming neces- sary."
(4) Section 11 is amended by the deletion in sub- sections (3), (4) and (5) of the expressions "suitable badge of office", "badge" and "badge of office" and the substitution therefor of the following-
“warrant”.
(5) Section 39 is amended by the deletion in the last line of the words "twenty-five dollars" and the substitution therefor of the following-
**lifty dollars".
(6) Section 42 is amended-
(a) by the repeal of paragraplis (1), (2) and (3) and the substitution therefor of the following-
"(a) for a first offence, to a fine not exceeding five thousand dollars and to imprisonment for any term not exceeding six months;
(b) for every subsequent offence, to a fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars and to imprisonment for any term not exceeding twelve months.";
