Section S is amended by the addition at the end thereof of the following-
"and subject to the provisions of the next following section to detain for the periods therein stated a person who has volun- tarily submitted himself under that section for care and Treatinent".
(2) The Ordinance is amended by the insertion after section & of the following section as sec- tion 8A-
"8A. (1) Any person not under the age of sixteen years who is desirous of voluntarily submitting to trealment Latit whose mental condition may not be such as to justify the issue of a certificate of unsoundness of mind, may, on making an application in writing to the medical practi tioner in charge of an asylum. in the discretion of "Such medical practitioner and on such conditions as he may think fit, be received into such asylum for care and trealment,
(2) No such person shall be detained for a period of more than seventy-two hours after he has given notice in writing of his intention to leave the asylum except under and in accordance with a certificate under section IO OT an order under section y hereof."

"a. The Governor in Council may by resolution grant exemption from the opera- tion of this Ordinance in respect of any hospital or institution. The hospitals and institutions in the Schedule shall be deemed to have been granted exemption under this section. The Governor in Council may at any time add to or amend the Schedule and may withdraw any exemption granted, or deemed to have been granted, under this section or may by resolution impose a con- dition or conditions in any or all cases for such exemption to continue."
Section 18 is amended-
(u) by the repeal of subsection (1) and the substitution therefor of the following--
"(0) The Governor in Council shall by regulations prescribe a list of substances which shall be treated as poisons for the purposes of this Ordinance.":
(b) by the repeal of subsection (3).
Section z is amended by the repeal therein of the definition of the word "Brothel".
Section 7 is amended by the addition in the fourth fine after the words "section 3" of the following....
