Explanatory Note.
Regulation of the regulations made under the Immigrants Control Ordinance, 1949, prohibits Immigration Control Officers from exercising the powers conferred by certain sections of the Ordinance on the Immigration Officer. The effect of regulation 2 of the above regulations is to enable Immigration Control Officers to exercise the powers conferred by section 16 of the Ordinance. These powers enable permission to enter the Colony to be given conditionally and it will accordingly be possible for an Imigration Control Officer to make it a condition that an immigrant should report to the Registrar of Aliens for questioning.
