Governor.

By His Excellency Sir GEOFFRY ALEXANDER STAFFORD NORTHCOTE, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George. Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hong Kong and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the same,

WHEREAS by Article 2 of the Hong Kong (Coinage) Order, 1936, it is provided among other things that the Governor may with the approval of the Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury and 'd' Secretary of Stute at any time declare by Proclamation that all or any of the coins referred to in the Schedule to the said Order shall, subject to a special provision in the case of British dollars, cease to be legal tender as from a date to be specified in the Proclamation and that such colus shall accordingly cease to be legal tender as from such date:

NOW I, the said Governor in exercise of the powera conferred on me by the said Article with the approval of the Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury and of the Secretary of State for the Colonies do hereby PROCLAIM AND DECLARE that the cupro nickel ten cent and five cent pieces of the respective standard weights of 40 and 20 grains shall cease to be legal tender as from the first day of November. 1939.
