By His Excellency NORMAN LOCKHART SMITH, Esquire, Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Officer Administering the Government of the Colony of Hong Kong and its Dependencies.

WHEREAS by section 11 of the Defences (Firing Areas) Ordinance, 1936, (Ordinance No. 1 of 1936) it is provided that the said Ordinance shall not come into opera- tion until such date as the Governor shall notify by Pro- clamation as the commencement of the said Ordinance :

AND WHEREAS by section 6 of the lefences (Firing Arens) Amendment Ordinance, 1936, (Ordinauce No. 50 of 1936) it is provided that that Ordinance shall be read and construed as one with, and shall come into operation at the same time as, the Defences (Firing Areas) Ordinance, 1836, which it amends and which shall not be brought into opera- tion by Proclamation until His Majesty's pleasure not to disallow the said Amendment Ordinance is known:

NOW I, the said NORMAN LOCKHART SMITH, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the said sections as inter- preted by section 39, A (1) of the Interpretation Ordinance. 1911, (Ordinance No. 31 of 1911) do hereby PROCLAIM and NOTIFY that it is His Majesty's Pleasure not to disallow the said Amandinent Ordinance and that the Defences (Firing Areas) Ordinance, 1936, as amended by the Defences (Firing Areas) Amendment Ordinance, 1938, shall come into opera- tion on the lat day of July, 1937,
