PROCLAMATION.

Officer Administering the Government.
By His Excellency Major-General G. DIGBY BARKER, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Officer Administering the Government of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same.
Whereas by Regulation No. 2 made by the Governor in Council on the 30th day of July, 1880, under the provisions of Section 1 of Ordinance No. 9 of 1883, it is provided that the term "port or place at which any infectious or contagious disease prevailed means a port or place proclaimed to be such by order of the Governor in Council published in the Gazette from the date of such proclamation."
And whereas the port of Swatow in the Empire of China has been proclained as such by order of the Governor in Council.
Now therefore, I, GEORGE DIGBY BANKER, Officer Administering the Government and Commander- in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the same, in pursuance of the said Regulation, and by virtue of the authority in me vested, do hereby under my hand declare and proclaim that Swatow is a port at which an infectious or contagious disease prevails.
