Taipo Market; re-instating surface and tarpainting road between Taipo Shui Wai and Lam Tsuen Village Bridge; widening and surfacing for heavy traffic road between Taipo Market Bridge and Taipo Railway Tunnel; filling in catchwater, laying cement concrete flat channel and re-instating road edges, Taipo Road near Kowloon Reservoir.

A traffic census taken on some of the main roads during a twelve-hour period (8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.) gave the following results which are shown compared with the 1937 figures.

96. Maintenance of Telephones:-Lines and instruments were maintained in good order. Repairs were carried out to submarine cable between Lantau and Cheung Chau.
