19. During the year the following new direct services were opened:-

Service with Tientsin was closed down midnight 31.12.37.
20. Commercial Radiotelegraph services were operated as follows:-
(1) British North Borneo, direct to Sandakan and thence to all offices and to Sarawak, Brunei and Labuan.
(2) Dutch East Indies, direct to Malabar, thence to all offices and to Dutch Borneo, Australasia and Europe.
(3) French Indo-China, direct to Hanoi, Saigon and Kwong-chowan, with connections to all inland places and via Saigon to France, Algeria and Tunis.
(4) Formosa, direct to Taihoku and thence to all offices, and in the event of interruptions to the normal cable services, to Japan.
(5) Philippines, direct to Manila, thence to all offices, and to American Continents, Europe and alternative connections to Dutch East Indies, and Borneo, Persia, Turkey in Asia, Portuguese East Africa, Syria and Lebanon, Palestine, Pacific Islands and West Indies.
(6) CHINA (a) direct to Shanghai, Foochow, Amoy, Swatow, Canton, Yunnanfu, Hankow, via Hankow to inland places in China and via Yunnanfu to other offices in Yunnan Province.
(b) On "Receiver to Pay" basis: —
Direct to Nanning and Wuchow.
(7) Macau, and via Macau to Timor.
(8) Siam, direct to Bangkok and thence to all offices.
(9) Aircraft service.
