159. Distribution Mains:-The following work was carried out:-160 feet of 6′′ cast iron main were laid in Waterloo Road and 1,420 feet of 6" spun and cast iron main were laid in Canton Road between Waterloo Road and Soy Street.

BUILDINGS ORDINANCE.

160. Compensation and Resumptions:-Minor resumptions were carried out in connection with street widenings and the development of the district under the approved Town Planning Scheme.

GENERAL WORKS.

161. Roads:-Works completed under this head included the macadamizing, kerbing, channelling and laying to approved levels portions of twenty-seven roads. Footpaths were paved with granolithic paving or slabs and the necessary improvements made in front of the buildings erected during the year.

162. Drainage-(a) Training Nullahs:-Parapet walling for a short length was constructed at Waterloo Road nullah-Kowloon Tong.

(b) Miscellaneous:-New sewers and storm water drains were constructed to a total length of 3,043 feet, varying from 33" to 6". The number of drain connections made was fifty-two. A large accretion area was excavated, invert and sides lined with cement concrete and rubble walls and channels constructed at the summit of a 48" culvert, Upper Tai Po Road. 322 feet of channelling in various lengths and sizes from 30" to 15" were laid. Minor works were carried out.
