Repairs due to white-ant damage were carried out to the following buildings:- Hung Hom School, old Central British School, Kowloon Disinfecting Station, Police Training School, Yaumati Police Chamber.
Electrical installations were maintained in good order; 706 fans and seventy-one radiators were cleaned and overhauled; twenty-six fan motors were rewound and nine radiators were fitted with new elements. Additions and alterations to 211 points were carried out in ten buildings; 1,668 points in twenty-one buildings were tested and eleven inventories of electrical fittings issued and revised. On the premises of the Kowloon-Canton Railway, British Section, the electrical installations in Tsim Sha Tsui Station, Offices and European Quarters were maintained in good order. Additional lights were installed in Hung Hom Signal Cabin, platform, and in the Chief Clerk's Office. One ceiling fan was installed in the Travel Association Kiosk; a large bell and two push-buttons for the Traffic Office were installed, and lightning conductors at Royal Observatory were repaired. Telephones and alarm bells were removed from old Fire Stations and installed in a New Fire Station at 745 to 747 Nathan Road,

75. Improvements to Buildings:- The principal improvements carried out were:- Green Island Depôt-detonator shed altered, Kowloon Hospital-clerks' office altered, new window fixed, approach road widened, fencing erected, Yaumati Police Station-cell windows altered, Yaumati Chamber-new blinds fixed, Kowloon Post Office-new water-closets installed, new shelving fixed, Hung Hom School-new latrines erected, Ma Tau Kok Cattle Depôt Inspector's Quarters typhoon shutters and bars fixed.
Electrical improvements and additions were carried out in three buildings.

76. Roads and Bridges (Maintenance and Improvements):- The surfaces of approximately fifty-three miles of roads were maintained in a satisfactory manner. Particulars of the additional areas laid with improved surfacing were:-

Between the 28th December 1937 and 4th January, 1938 a traffic census was taken at the undernoted points. During a twelve hour period (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) the following results were obtained, and these are shown compared with the 1935 and 1936 figures.
