70. Stores Depreciation:-The following sums were credited to the vote during the year: $976.40 being rebate on freight charges on stores purchased in England through the Crown Agents for the Colonies: $14,742.73 being the value of goods issued prior to 1937 and returned to store.

The adjustment of stores values, reconditioning of old stores, and transportation of stores etc. amounting to $15,812.22 have been debited to the vote.

The result showed a net expenditure on the vote of $93.09

71. Boundary Stones:-To define the boundaries of 843 lots, 3,022 stones were placed in position.

73. Maintenance of Vehicles Ferry Pier at Jubilee Street:- The pier and hoists were maintained in good condition, the greater portion of the expense under this head was incurred for the replacement of fendering damaged by the ferry vessels. Ramps and hoisting gears were maintained and operated in a satisfactory manner.

KOWLOON.

74. Maintenance of Buildings:-Government Buildings were kept in a good state of repair. Painting, colourwashing and repairs in accordance with the recurring programme were carried out to thirty buildings. Major repairs included the following: Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station--part of timber roof renewed in reinforced concrete, ceilings renewed, approach road repaired, Green Island Depôt-general repairs carried out, Royal Observatory-paths repaired, Kowloon Fire Station, Mong Kok--sliding poles erected, gas fittings fixed, Kowloon Magistracy-wire fence erected, Dyer Avenue Bathhouse-water tank renewed.
