GENERAL WORKS.
170. Roads:-Work completed under this head included the surfacing, kerbing and channelling of new roads, and where required to existing roads. Footpaths were paved with granolithic paving or slabs and the necessary improvements made in front of new buildings erected during the year.

171. Drainage :-(a) Training Nullahs :-A concrete invert of 3″ thick was laid in the open earth cut at the base of the foothills at Lai Chi Kok to a length of 2,000 feet. Plugs were fixed in the 6" diameter weephole pipes of Nos. 2, 3 and 4 covered nullahs at Kai Tack Aerodrome. Concrete under-pinning and sundry minor works were undertaken at the walling at the head of Lai Chi Kok nullah; and also minor works in stream courses at the summit of an open cut at Lai Chi Kok.

(b) Miscellaneous Drainage Works:-New sewers and storm water drains were constructed to a length of 827 feet, varying in diameter from 48" to 6". Channelling and minor works were carried out at an open cut at Lai Chi Kok, in rear of New Kowloon Inland Lots Nos. 1894, 1892, 1751, etc. A storm water trench was excavated to a detailed section in the area north of Boundary Street and east of Tai Po Road; also a sand trap was constructed. An U-shaped sullage channel was constructed in rear of New Kowloon Inland Lots Nos. 1894, 1750 and 2213, Castle Peak Road. The number of drain connections made was thirty-three. Many new gullies with flat gully gratings were constructed and connected to the existing storm water drainage system.

172. Miscellaneous :-The following works were carried out:-Kai Tack Aerodrome-sunblinds to offices. Two power circuits were installed in Kowloon City Telephone Switchboard Room and To Kwa Wan Sanitary Office.

173. Water Works Miscellaneous :-The following works were carried out:-710 feet of 12" cast iron main were laid in Castle Peak Road south eastwards from Pratas Street,
